Blithe Spirit has surprised and delighted audiences around the world for over seventy years – and the fact that it was one of the top picks in our 2013 audience survey is a testimony to its enduring popularity. But to bring it to the stage, we need a lot of things, and a lot of talented people to turn those things into a show. Even in community theatre, that takes money!
That’s where we hope you’ll come in – by supporting our Kickstarter campaign, you will help us to hire professional designers and technicians, purchase materials, and rent a space to perform the show. We are a nonprofit community theatre company, and we’re relying on you – our community – to help us bring Blithe Spirit to life! (Figuratively, of course – the ghost will still be dead no matter how much money we raise.)
Update, December 1, 2013: We’ve reached 10 backers and over 20% of our goal. Only 10 days left to reach $3,500 so we can produce Blithe Spirit next summer.
A big thank you to: Marc Specter, Mark Moran, Frances Gentile, Sandy Ward, Jeff Thomas, Nancy Dodge, William Davis, Jeanne Thomas, Jane Spetoskey and Pat Seiler!
Update, December 7, 2013: It’s now the FOURTH to last day, so we’re adding a little something extra to the mix: If we hit $4,000, we’ll run a spring workshop on iambic pentameter using Ian Doescher’s Star Wars: Verily a New Hope as our text.
We’ve got some new backer levels that include admission to the workshop too – but if you’re already a backer and are happy with your current reward level (but still want to reserve a spot in the workshop), you can edit your pledge and add-on the appropriate amount ($25 per basic workshop admission or $50 per premium admission with extra take-home materials) for the additional stuff you want (we’ll contact you to figure out which you wanted when this is all over!)
Update, December 9, 2013: With just over two days left, we’ve reached 23 backers and $1,500 of our original $3,500 goal! We still need YOUR help to get there, but are happy to thank the second 10 backers, whose names have been posted by Kickstarter: Gary E. Mitchell, Derek DeVries, Karla Solomon, Matthew McKay, Diane Rayor, Steve Nardin, Jeff Bootzin, James Bell, Kathy Boylon, and Amy Kirkbride.
