Meet the Musicians

Our January 31, 2015 Gala will feature the following musicians:

GraffitiGraffiti

“Graffiti” presents an eclectic mix of Southern Rock and Blues and is made up of singer-songwriters Adam Wright and Jeff Oxford. They play mostly original songs but also like to toss in a cover here and there to mix it up a bit!

The second performer of the evening at our 2015 Anniversary Gala will be Julia Yob – Following the Music.

“As a professional singer-songwriter, Julia Yob is well-versed in finding – and sometimes fighting her way to – musical inspiration in the world around her. A Grand Rapids native with an honors B.A. in Music, she now has two musical theatre credits as a composer-lyricist (Poltergeist: A Musical Parody with the Stark Turn Players and TIP$ the Musical, produced in early 2014 with co-writer Ian Mockerman). Julia has written over 100 original songs, including all of those on her first CD, Kissing Frogs. A proud member of the Grand Rapids Songwriters Alliance, she is also on the board for the Heritage Theatre.”

Julia will also be teaching a songwriting workshop after the Gala on February 7, 2015.

Jukejoint Handmedowns

The last of the three musical acts performing at the 25th Anniversary gala on January 31, 2015 is Jukejoint Handmedowns!

“The Jukejoint Handmedowns were established in 2010 as a duo act by founding members Nathan James and Tim Foley. They describe themselves as a ‘Big Tent’ American Roots group whose eclectic set list mixes old school country & western, 70’s AM pop radio hits, jazz standards, rock and roll, an extensive catalog of original material, and just about anything else that strikes their fancy. Expanding to a trio in 2011 with the addition of Paul Harris on steel guitar, and then to a quartet in 2012 when Craig Van Otteren signed on as Mandolin/3rd Harmony, this entertaining group, with their country/bluegrass instrumentation, three part harmonies and suprising song choices are a hit with young and old alike.”
